University of Illinois Extension Nutrition and Wellness Educator Diane Reinhold is partnering with the Senior Resource Center to offer a two-part workshop designed for anyone interested in preventing or managing heart disease. The sessions are for those who cook for someone with heart disease or those who work toward preventing it for themselves. The class, “Meals for a Healthy Heart” will run on Thursdays, Feb. 14 and Feb. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center. In each session, participants will learn how lifestyle factors impact the risk and management of heart disease. You will receive recipes and watch cooking demonstrations, as well as learn about heart healthy eating and physical activities to better care for your health. Preregistration is required due to limited space. Please register before Feb. 7. Cost is $20 to cover the educational session.
